The Legend of Locksley might just get Robin and Marian killed.
Robin Locke’s career as a jockey is far more successful than he ever expected. When a groom is found dead in the stables, Robin sets out to right the wrongs of Locksley. Unfortunately, Robin’s rival is dead set on proving him guilty!
Marian Silvers sets out to find a once in a lifetime story that will ensure her career as a reporter withstands the masochistic attitudes of the paper where she works. As she and Robin dig into the groom’s murder, she finds another side to the legend of Locksley…a side he would prefer stay hidden forever.
While the murderer wreaks havoc in their small town, Marian and Robin find that all is not as it seems. And then they become the next targets. They just need to evade the killer long enough to bring him to justice… and perhaps find love along the way.
This 1940s Robin Hood retelling features swapped character roles and a race against the clock
Fairytale retelling +mystery +1940’s =another great book by Tabitha Bouldin!
You’ll experience all the sights and sounds of the racetrack, the 1940’s dance halls, and living in constant worry— will he be drafted? Will they be able to provide for their families when their men ARE drafted?
A delightful story with a healthy dose of nods to the original fairy tale, Robbing the Races is one you don’t want to miss!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author. This in no way affects my opinion. This five star review is my own thoughts
On screen they’re a darling duo, but it’s a whole different story backstage.
Hollywood legend Kent Selwood isn’t happy sharing the limelight with rising star Stella Sanders. Tired of Stella’s drama, Kent makes it clear—he wants Stella gone.
Seamstress Bonnie Roseland is practically invisible to everyone at the studio, except for slick actor, Jerry Jackson. He’s the one man she wishes would leave her alone. Her deep-rooted faith helps her see beyond the glitz and glamor to the broken realities and dysfunctional atmosphere at the studio. She sometimes wonder if God has a purpose for her there or if she should just move on.
When the studio receives blackmail letters, Kent’s attitude makes him the prime suspect, and he’s swiftly banished from the lot, despite insisting that he’s been framed. Only Bonnie believes him, and she’s confident she knows who the real culprit is.
But when a ransom note arrives after Stella goes missing and evidence is discovered that clearly implicates Kent, will Bonnie help him uncover the truth in time to save his career… and Stella’s life?
I was drawn to this book because I have enjoyed everything this author has written and sure enough, I was not disappointed! The action grabbed my interest from the first page as I met the main and supporting characters surrounding a 1940s Hollywood film production studio. I didn’t like the hero, Kent Selwood, in the beginning as he came across as arrogant and selfish but was delighted to see the positive change in him as he received help from an unlikely supporter, seamstress Bonnie Roseland. Her quiet and unassuming personality and the way she lived out her faith were so inspiring to read and I couldn’t help but root for her and Kent not only in solving the mystery, but as a couple. The solving of the studio crimes was most interesting and not what I had been expecting and made for a great ending!
If you are looking for a quick, engaging and inspiring mystery, I highly recommend this book, as well as this author!I received an advanced reader copy from Celebrate Lit Publishing via BookFunnel. A positive review was not required and the opinions expressed here are completely my own.
No one takes her kid and gets away with it.
When Teagan Parsons discovers that the Amber Alert on a celebrity couple’s child is actually her daughter, she’s determined to rescue the daughter she relinquished years ago. If she’d only realized the emotions her mission would rekindle…
Having a cousin in the FBI gets her closer to the case than she could have dreamed, but instead of listening to the lead FBI agent’s warnings to “leave the job to the professionals,” Teagan begins following everyone she suspects. That old saying, “Don’t quit your day job,” has never been truer, but she’ll do whatever it takes to bring her daughter home safe.
Mitch McCartney has enough trouble on his hands without dealing with a guilt-ridden, biological mother bent on making up for past sins. Teagan seems to have developed a talent for getting things wrong and putting herself in danger. Oh… and she’s adding theft to her rap sheet—theft of his heart, anyway.
Then Teagan goes missing.
Learning you can’t undo the past is a tough enough lesson without adding on more mistakes, but with Mitch’s help, Teagan may, with the Lord’s Guidance, forge a brighter future this time.
This story flows from the heart of the author straight to the heart of the reader. Following the lives of Teagan, Mitch, Bobbie, Granny, Gemma (Ellen) and others, one cannot help but feel the faithfulness of God as He guides and protects through danger and the unknown. A thought provoking book inspiring hope, faith and trust in anyone and everyone who opens it’s cover.
Wading through grief is like dancing with shadows.
Bekah Casey’s been on a tear for near a year, and the anger clings to her like cheap perfume. If only the Lord would wash it away like He did with her sins, she might could find her way out of the mire. Instead, she escapes from the one person to blame for all her ills—her husband Mitch.
Now she’s living with her mama and daddy, working two jobs, and facing a future that looks bleak as a middle-Tennessee winter. Her mama’s all the time telling her that the good Lord works in ways too confounding to comprehend, and if she’d learn to trust in Him, her life will look a might brighter. Easy for her to say.
When things go from dark to disastrous, Bekah figures she's got two choices—sink in her sin or dig her way out
Mitch Casey never did put a whole lot of stock in faith. Didn’t appear it helped Bekah any either since hers went sideways the minute things got hard. Still, he’s willing to take whatever abuse she throws his way if it helps her muddle through the grief. Then one poor decision, a night in jail, and a divine assignment with a local pastor puts Mitch on an unexpected path.
When you're dancing with shadows, who gets to lead? Find out in the next book in the Bedford County series
This book is absolutely amazing! It’s so full of God’s redemptive power and forgiveness for self and others.
The amount of anger and unforgiveness Rebekah holds toward Mitch is so real and relatable as is Mitch’s understanding and long suffering towards Rebekah! It’s such a life lesson in just how easily we can allow these two emotions to control our every thought.
The ease with which this author brings such enormity to the teachings of God in these areas is mind blowing as well as the way she brings full circle God’s redeeming power.
This book spoke to the depths of my soul on so many levels and I’m so grateful to Jennifer Sienes for being the tool God used to touch me so deeply.
I was very gratefully given a complimentary copy by the author. My opinion is my own.
God gave her peace then; maybe He’ll do it again.
When Amy Lee’s son heads off to college, the bed and breakfast owner finds life even lonelier and emptier than she had after losing her husband. She needs something to occupy her mind and heart while she reinvents her life again. What more could she ask for than an after-school program for local children and a renewed interest in painting?
Then the arrival of a professor of archeology shakes her world and makes her yearn for the way things were only a few short months ago.
Still grieving the loss of his beloved wife, and ignoring the warnings and protests of his grown children, Professor Walker Standish escapes on a six-month sabbatical. His heart, barely beating these past months, jerks to life again when he finds more than a room at a B & B.
Where an ocean meets the shore, love has room for one more.
Take a trip to the Suamalie Islands where palm trees sway, the sand and sea pulse with life, and the people will steal your heart.
Marguerite Martin Gray has done a wonderful job with this new contemporary island romance. The sights and sounds of the Island are so real you feel like you are there as you read. I loved the faith of the characters as they go about their lives. They experience the same problems and doubts we all feel but give us a nudge to let it all rest in the hands of our Father. Sweet, sweet love story. Great blending of history and contemporary. I hate the beach and this made me want to go to this tropical paradise and stay forever! Great job, Ms. Gray!
