Release Fun for Stealing the First Mate

Hello readers!

I am super excited about the release of Stealing the First Mate by Tabitha Bouldin, the next in our Independence Islands Series. To celebrate, we are doing a week of fun posts with giveaways…YAY!

Best friends. Tabitha asked us to talk about something we did with our best friend or a time when our best friend got us through a tough time.

Lucy and Ethel, Thelma and Louise. Both come to mind when you get Chautona Havig and I together. We have such a great time together and come up with more than one hair-brained idea! Add my daughter, Denise, into the mix and it is a hoot! The three of us write together, go to retreats together, and even went to Tennessee together – that was a super-fun trip!

Chautona has been there for me when I was going to have surgery and dreamed two weeks before said surgery that I was going to die. She encouraged me, comforted me, and held my hand (over the internet of course). After surgery, she called, she helped with Celebrate Lit, and drove 3 hours to visit me.

More than once she has offered to drop everything and drive three hours to come help me. She has talked me off the edge, invested in me, and helped me to make several of my dreams come true. She puts up with me when I cry and my feelings are hurt – let’s just say she puts up with a lot LOL. She always makes time for me and I never hear her complain.

Chautona and I love to talk theology. I will come across a verse with a question and send it over to her for us to discuss. We don’t agree on everything but here is the thing..we talk about it. We think about it. Sometimes one of us changes our mind. Sometimes we agree to disagree. Either way, we are both better for it.

Sometimes it is easy to be a friend when all is going well and to be a shoulder when people need us. What is hard and unusual to find in a friend is someone who will be honest with you in love when you need it. Chautona loves me enough to do that for me. And friends, I need it. Desperately. You see, God uses this to expose sin and wrong heart-attitudes in my life.

All t his to say, I am very blessed to have Chautona in my life and I am very thankful for her!

More about the book:

Sometimes, happily ever after is as elusive as a pirate’s treasure.

Darcy Riggins dove headfirst into the online dating pool and sank. Every time.

Her lifelong dream of becoming a wife and mother becomes more elusive every year. So, taking the lack of a Mr. Right in her life as a decided “No!” from God, Darcy gives up altogether.

Single and happy is not an oxymoron. Right?

Nigel Jones has loved Darcy for ages, but her father (his boss, of course) ordered him to keep his feelings to himself, thanks to a stupid mistake that Darcy (thankfully) doesn’t know about.  Too bad her dad does.

Being single and content turns out to be tougher than Darcy imagined, and when she begins doubting everything she’s ever known, Nigel decides it’s time to admit his mistakes, tell the truth, and trust God for the outcome.

In this “forbidden-love-meets-friends-to-more” novel, Stealing the First Mate continues the Elnora Island romances of the Independence Islands Series featuring five islands, six authors, and a boatload of happily-ever-afters.

The Independence Islands Series: beach reads aren’t just for summer anymore.
